Future of the Industry
The future of the industry is likely to be markedly impacted by an increasing focus on environmental issues and uptake of technology.
The employee of the future will be capable of anticipating and responding to environmental responsibilities including those for the protection of water, the management of storm and waste water and contribution to ozone protection systems.
Technology enhancements will match these responsibilities and be evident in control, monitoring and quality audit systems. It is clear that plumbing and related disciplines will need to attract apprentices and trainees who are adaptable and capable of dealing with the intellectual and technological demands associated with these increasing responsibilities.
Employer representation in the industry is provided by a limited number of groups or associations including Master Plumbers Associations in each State/Territory, AIG and Air Conditioning and Mechanical Services Contractors Associations in a number of constituencies.
